I'm Gonna Explode

Román is the son of a contemptible right leaning congressman. Newly enrolled at a high school, he goes up at the talent show and makes a clumsy attempt on his own life on stage, in front of everyone. Maru is the only person in the hall who applauds, and the two of them are given a day of detention. Serving the punishment together brings them close. Then they take his father’s gun, steal a car and set out on the road bound for nowhere. The film builds the search of two young people for their own fate as a road story. The gap that family and school have left in them is the real subject. Juan Pablo de Santiago and María Deschamps appear in Gerardo Naranjo’s hundred and six minute film, a joint Mexican and British production, completed in 2008.
