Inch'Allah dimanche

Zouina leaves her homeland with her three children to join her husband in France. He has been living there for the past ten years. Both the country and the culture are foreign to her. At home she faces the tyrannical hand of her mother in law and the distrustful bitterness of her husband. Zouina tries to make room for herself between those two pressures. The film tells migration not as a story of arrival but as a daily struggle. How the experience of migration differs for women from what it is for men is the real subject. Fejria Deliba takes the lead, with Zinedine Soualem and Marie-France Pisier also in the cast. Yamina Benguigui’s ninety eight minute film, a joint Algerian and French production, was completed in 2001.
