It Came from Kuchar

The documentary takes up the twin brothers George and Mike Kuchar. The two came out of underground cinema and made films with no budget. What they made was extravagant, fast and worked by rules of its own. That manner influenced two generations of directors, actors and musicians. The film joins archive footage to interviews with the brothers and with people they influenced. John Waters and Guy Maddin are among those who speak. The account uses the language of admiration, and that view is the film’s own. The eighty six minutes are spread over a long career. Jennifer M. Kroot’s American documentary was completed in 2009.
