Jolly LLB 2

Jagdishwar Mishra is a small-time lawyer in Lucknow who cheats a widow out of her money to buy himself an office, and her suicide drops him into exactly the kind of case he has spent his life avoiding. Akshay Kumar takes over the role for this sequel, while Saurabh Shukla returns as the judge and again supplies the best comedy in the film. What happened around the release is stranger than the plot: a lawyer in Nanded petitioned the Bombay High Court claiming the film demeaned the profession, the court appointed a three-member committee to watch it, and clearance finally came on condition that four scenes were removed. Who it is for: viewers who like courtroom comedy and Indian mainstream cinema with a political edge. Who it is not for: anyone expecting plausible legal procedure, since the trial here is a stage.
