Kabukicho Love Hotel

An hourly hotel in Tokyo's Kabukicho district. The film follows the people who pass through it over one day. Toru, the manager, actually wants to make music and has not told his girlfriend where he works. The cleaner is a young Korean woman with no residence papers. The man on the front desk has a past of his own. The stories of the couples who take rooms, an escort, a man on the run and an elderly couple all touch each other across the day. By morning none of them are where they started. Ryuichi Hiroki directs; two hours and fifteen minutes. Shota Sometani plays Toru and Atsuko Maeda his girlfriend. Hiroki has filmed this district before, and the way he looks at it here is neither romantic nor contemptuous.
