What Killer 2 Is About
Jurek Kiler, the taxi driver mistaken in the first film for a famous contract killer and thereby turned into a gangster, is now a wealthy businessman and officially respectable. But his old circle will not leave him alone and the police still take him for a killer. There is also a treasure hidden under the Warsaw metro. Juliusz Machulski built the sequel on a larger scale and turned it into a satire of late-nineties Poland laughing at itself: the new rich, the new crime series on television and the new politics. Cezary Pazura leads. It moves fast, the jokes are local and the pace never drops. It became one of the most watched domestic films in Poland of its moment. Who it is for: viewers who like Polish comedy and anyone who saw the first film. Who it is not for: anyone unfamiliar with the local political references, since part of the humour comes from there.
