Sexmission

Two men frozen for an experiment are woken far later than planned and find themselves in an underground society made up only of women. Their existence is treated as a danger. The film uses its science fiction for comedy while its real target is the official language of its own period: the meetings, the slogans and the writing of history are imitated directly. That is why it was read in Poland as a political allegory. Juliusz Machulski wrote and directed, with Jerzy Stuhr in the cast. A real warning: its humour about gender has dated by current standards and is uncomfortable in places. The political satire still lands.
