R. S. Durai Senthilkumar's 2016 Tamil film puts Dhanush in two roles at once. One twin is inside politics and will try anything to rise; the other is a quiet teacher with no interest in it. The political brother is involved with a woman from his own party who is equally ambitious, and at a certain point the two of them end up on opposite sides. As events develop, the quiet brother is pulled into the fight as well. The film offers a sharp observation of how local politics works in Tamil Nadu, and presenting the woman's political ambition as no different from the men's is an unusual choice for the genre. Trisha Krishnan plays one of the hardest characters of her career. Who it's for: viewers who like Indian political thrillers and stories built on twins. Who it's not for: anyone wanting a realistic account of politics; the film reaches for melodrama often.
