Anjali Menon's 2018 Malayalam film is cited as a loose adaptation of the Argentine film Anda but builds its own ground. Joshua, working in the Gulf, returns to Kerala after his sister's death and has to face his childhood and what his family did to him. His sister Jenny returns to the story as an apparition, presented not as a supernatural event but as the logic grief follows. Nazriya Nazim's Jenny supplies the film's lightness, while Sophie, played by Parvathy Thiruvothu, carries its most concrete pain. Menon's interest is in how migrant labour families come apart and how the children pay for it. The film's problem is an emotional resolution that arrives too neatly, and some threads left unfinished. Who it's not for: anyone expecting the supernatural element to be explained, or who will find the slow pace and low incident dull.
