Dog

The film tells one ordinary day in Istanbul through three lives that never touch. Ten year old Cemo sells paper tissues in the street. Hayat lives under her husband’s control. Ebru, a trans woman, works in the sex trade. Each of them carries a love they tell no one about, and each does what they can to satisfy that longing, even for a moment. The film does not turn these lives into curiosities and does not look down on them. The city is not a backdrop; it is what draws the limits of all three stories. Oğuzhan Sancar, Beren Tuna, Barış Atay and Çağla Akalın appear in Esen Işık’s ninety four minute film, a joint Turkish and Swiss production, completed in 2015.
