Giuseppe Bertolucci V Vittorio Magrelli What La Rabbia di Pasolini Is About
In 1962 a producer asked Pier Paolo Pasolini to build a film out of the newsreel archive he held. The work that came out alarmed the producers; a right wing journalist was then commissioned to make a second part, and the two pieces went into release as a single film alongside a shortened version of Pasolini’s section. Pasolini did not own the result. This documentary is an attempt, forty five years later, to put that first version back together: the director’s shot list, his dialogue transcript and his notes on the music were taken as the basis, the second part was removed, and footage found in the distributor’s archive was added. Giuseppe Bertolucci’s eighty three minute Italian documentary was completed in 2008.
