Left Right Left

This Malayalam film ties three lives together. Roy and his friends expose a politician caught up in corruption, and soon afterwards the friends are found dead. Years later Roy dies of illness. The file he leaves behind is opened by a police officer, Jayan, who learns how Roy and the politician crossed paths in the past. Arun Kumar Aravind's film looks straight at politics in Kerala: the parties, the calculations over who gets what, slogans with nothing behind them on the street. The screenplay was written by Murali Gopy, who also acts in it. The telling clears no party and blames none on its own; what it is aiming at is not individuals but the arrangement itself. The film caused argument in Kerala.
