What Lelam Is About
The film is set in Kerala. Two families hold the liquor business between them. One is the Anakkattil family. The other is the Kadayadi family. The two sides have been at odds for a long time. The rivalry carries beyond the business. On the Anakkattil side there is Chackochi. Chackochi has to keep the family’s place in the trade. The other side tries to get the upper hand at every turn. The struggle grows harder as it goes. The account is built on that rivalry. The past of the two families is inside the events as well. Suresh Gopi and M G Soman take the leads, with Kausalya and Siddique also in the cast, in Joshiy’s Malayalam film of 1997.
