What Letting Go of God Is About
In the third of her one woman shows about her own life, Julia Sweeney tells of growing up in a Catholic family and of how she lost her faith. Wanting to take her own belief seriously and look at where it came from takes her somewhere she did not expect; what happened to her family and the illnesses in it are part of that road. Nothing in the telling mocks believers or unbelievers; the matter is a person trying to stay honest with herself. Filmed as a record of the stage show, it runs for more than two hours on one person talking and never becomes dull. The hundred and thirty minute American production was completed in 2008.
