What Love in Tahiti Is About
Brielle Wilson is a diver who believes the sea floor is full of things waiting to be found. Over the years she has found rings, coins and lost jewellery. Rather than selling them she likes returning them to the people who lost them. One day she gives back a class ring to a serviceman named Marcus. That meeting shows her what has been missing in her own life. The film uses looking and finding in two senses at once; what comes out of the water and what a person finds sit in the same sentence. The account moves inside the familiar shape of romantic comedy. Lary Müller and Oran Stainbrook appear in John Lyde’s ninety four minute American production, completed in 2023.
