Love Live! The School Idol Movie

Muse, the nine-member group that won the school idol contest, has decided to disband when its senior members graduate. Just then news arrives: they are asked to perform at an event in New York. The trip brings the group back together, and on their return the idea of a large concert in Japan appears. But the real question is what remains when being a school idol ends. Takahiko Kyougoku's film is the feature-length close of the Love Live! series. The narrative treats the decision to disband not as a loss but as a deliberate choice; that not continuing is also a decision is the film's main idea. The song and dance sequences were made on a larger scale than in the series, using computer-assisted choreography. Who it's for: Love Live! viewers, and anyone who likes idol anime and musical animation. Who it's not for: Newcomers cannot tell the characters apart and the emotional weight does not carry. The narrative is also thin between the songs.
