Lullaby to Kill

Kosuke Kindaichi, a somewhat peculiar private detective, arrives in a remote town. He meets a police detective there and the two of them begin looking into a murder committed years earlier and never solved. Then new killings follow, and the town is suddenly forced to face its own past. The Japanese title of the film points to a children’s rhyme. To find out who the murderer is, Kindaichi first has to bring out what the town buried years ago. The town itself is inside the account as well: who is related to whom, who arrived when, all of it comes out piece by piece. Koji Ishizaka plays the lead in Kon Ichikawa’s hundred and forty four minute Japanese film, completed in 1977.
