Mallesham

Mallesham is the child of a weaving family. He leaves school in the sixth standard. The household prepares silk yarn for the loom. The work is called asu. The yarn is wound onto a large frame by hand. It wears down the arm and the shoulder. His mother Lakshmi is in constant pain from it. Other women in the village are in the same state. Mallesham decides to design a machine to ease the work. He teaches himself engineering without any training. The attempts stretch over years. Money trouble, ridicule and failure pile up. In the end he builds a device that does the asu work. The machine brings a six hour job down to ninety minutes. The film is adapted from that true story. Priyadarshi Pullikonda and Jhansi appear in the one hundred thirty two minute film, an Indian production Raj Rachakonda finished in 2019.
