Mama

Rada the goat leaves her five children at home and sets off for the fair, telling them before she goes to open the door to nobody but her. Kostika the wolf, his nephew and their friends the lynx and the donkey have already made their plan: they will take the children while the mother is away. And there is Matei, the eldest, who decides not to listen to her and to go to the fair himself. Once the door is opened the rest follows, and the day turns bad for the goat family. Elisabeta Bostan directs the musical; eighty-eight minutes, a Romanian, Soviet and French co-production. It comes from the Romanian folk tale of the goat and her three kids, with the film raising the number to five. Mikhail Boyarsky plays the wolf and Lyudmila Gurchenko the mother. It is remembered for its songs and for the sequences shot on ice.
