Veronica

Veronica is a restless girl living in an orphanage. When she is five a fairy gives her a magic bag that can grant every wish. What follows is the effort of a child with unlimited means to work out what she actually wants; as wishes come true easily, what she wants begins to change. The film speaks to children and moves along with songs; it became one of the best known works in Romanian children’s cinema of the seventies. The account uses the form of a fairy tale but does not hide the orphanage either. That the wishes cost nothing is what produces the film’s real question. Lulu Mihaescu plays the lead in Elisabeta Bostan’s ninety minute Romanian film, completed in 1972.
