Maxine's Baby: The Tyler Perry Story

Tyler Perry is a well known name in America. He writes plays, makes films and acts in them. He built a studio of his own. The documentary tells the life behind that success. His childhood was hard. He was abused at home and said nothing about it for a long time. It was in that period that he started writing. He looked for a way to turn his pain into work. That road was long and wearing. In the end he found his own audience. From there he moved into film. The industry did not take him in at first. The title of the film refers to his mother. That relationship stands at the centre of the account. Tyler Perry tells his own story in the hundred and fifteen minute documentary, an American production Gelila Bekele and Armani Ortiz finished in 2023.
