Mondo

One summer day a boy of about ten appears on the streets of Nice. His name is Mondo; he has no family, no belongings and no schooling. He knows how to run from the police and from adults who threaten him. The only thing he is looking for is a family to take him in. Along the way he first helps a street magician and stays on with him. Then he becomes friends with Dadi, who lives on the street, and Giordan, a fisherman. All the while his eye is on people who might become his parents. The story is adapted from a story by J.M.G. Le Clézio. Tony Gatlif’s French film of 1995 runs eighty minutes.
