Moonnam Pakkam

Thampi, an old man who has retired, lives quietly and alone in the village. The news that his grandson Pachu is coming makes him happy days in advance; the house is made ready and the table is laid. Pachu arrives with his friends, and the old man’s house, silent for years, is suddenly full. But this happiness does not last, and something unexpected happens in the village by the sea. The film is about the loneliness of old age and about how a person’s life can hang on a single day. In the film the sea is not a view but the thing that decides which way the story goes. Thilakan and Jayaram appear in P. Padmarajan’s hundred and thirteen minute Indian film, completed in 1988.
