What My Favorite Spy Is About
Peanuts White is a third rate burlesque comic whose one misfortune is looking exactly like Eric Augustine, an international spy. When federal agents notice the resemblance they talk him into going to Tangier in the spy’s place, with orders to recover a valuable roll of microfilm before hostile agents get hold of it. A man who knows nothing beyond telling jokes on a stage steps into another life and lands among real operatives, and he also meets the spy’s girlfriend, who turns out to be a spy herself. Bob Hope plays both the comic and the agent in a double role, with Hedy Lamarr opposite him as Lily Dalbray and Francis L. Sullivan in support. Norman Z. McLeod’s ninety three minute American comedy belongs to Hope’s run of favourite titled pictures.
