What There Goes My Heart Is About
Joan, a wealthy heiress tired of the life her grandfather has arranged for her, slips away from the yacht and tries to make a life of her own in New York. Hiding who she is, she takes a job as a shop assistant in the department store her grandfather owns. At the same time the reporter Bill is on her trail hoping for a photograph; he finds her, and instead of writing his story something else happens. The film runs in the fast, light comic mould of the thirties, and it puts the difference between money and work inside the joke. Fredric March and Virginia Bruce appear in Norman Z. McLeod’s eighty three minute American film, completed in 1938.
