My Little Pony: Equestria Girls - Legend of Everfree

The students of Canterlot High head to Camp Everfree. There are magical crystals near the camp and the girls acquire new powers one by one. At the same time a threat to shut the camp down appears, and its source turns out to be closer than expected. Ishi Rudell directed. This is the fourth Equestria Girls feature and the first to leave the school setting. Its function within the franchise is here: the idea that the girls' stone pendants are the source of their powers is established for the first time, and later entries build on that arrangement. The story runs the summer-camp template straight: cabins, contests, a night fire and a final dance. The songs sit at the series' usual level; for a viewer outside the target audience the interesting part is how openly the narrative is wired to the toy line. Who it is for: children following the series and families wanting an evening they can watch together. Who it is not for: newcomers; no character history is given and the film assumes you have it.
