N is a Number: A Portrait of Paul Erdős

Paul Erdös was born in Hungary in 1913. He had no home and no job. He was counted the most prolific mathematician who ever lived. He wrote or co-wrote over fifteen hundred papers. He opened up several fields in theoretical mathematics. He spent his life on the road. He went from one mathematics meeting to the next. Wherever he went he was working on a problem. The documentary follows him in exactly that state. It was shot in four countries between 1988 and 1991. The film came out in 1993. Erdös was in his late seventies at the time. He died in 1996 at a meeting in Warsaw. His death falls years after the filming. Paul Erdös appears in the fifty seven minute documentary, an American production George Paul Csicsery finished in 1993.
