Naseem

Naseem is a schoolgirl of fifteen. She lives with her family in Mumbai. Her grandfather lives in the house too. The old man tells her of former days. He remembers the years before independence. People lived together in those years. What he tells her builds the girl’s world. The events take place in 1992. The air in the city grows tenser. The divide between communities widens. Worry grows inside the family. In December the Babri Mosque is demolished. Trouble follows it. Naseem watches all of it from home. The film sets the past her grandfather describes beside the present. Mayuri Kango and Kaifi Azmi appear in the eighty five minute film, an Indian production Saeed Akhtar Mirza finished in 1995.
