What Happens Now?

Atıf Yılmaz's 1979 comedy opens with Nuran catching her husband Şakir with another woman and filing for divorce. She hires the lawyer Orhan; Şakir hires Özden from the other side. While the hearings drag on, the two advocates who spend every session tearing into each other fall for one another and marry as soon as the case is closed. That is where the film really begins, because Orhan and Özden come from different worlds, and the first quarrel exposes how differently they eat, entertain and treat their relatives. With Levent Kırca, Nevra Serezli, Şener Şen, Perran Kutman and Adile Naşit, it builds the familiar Yeşilçam marriage farce out of class and habit rather than jealousy.
