What Netto Is About
The film is about an unemployed father and his son trying to get used to each other. The man drinks, and his life has been out of order for a long time. One day the boy comes to stay and the two of them have to make an arrangement. To look better in his son’s eyes the father implies he has work and makes his situation sound better than it is. The son, for his part, sets about putting his father’s life straight. The film does not turn this into a story of rescue; it tells of two people learning to put up with each other. Daily life in a district of Berlin makes up the ground. Milan Peschel and Sebastian Butz appear in Robert Thalheim’s eighty seven minute German film, completed in 2005.
