Nimrods

Lee Kirk's film follows three friends driving from Kansas City to Los Angeles. They believe their band is opening for a well-known group on New Year's Eve, and the information is wrong. The film follows the road movie form. None of the three knows what he is doing and their plans fall apart along the way; the narrative delays the moment the mistake is understood and draws its comedy from that. The cast is young, with Jenna Fischer and Mckenna Grace in supporting parts. The tone is light and the music sits inside the narrative. It promises no great success. Who it's for: those who like American road comedy and music-themed youth films. Who it's not for: viewers expecting an original structure; the film follows a familiar pattern.
