What Omar and Cedric: If This Ever Gets Weird Is About
Nicolas Jack Davies's 2024 documentary covers a relationship between two musicians spanning forty years. Omar Rodríguez-López and Cedric Bixler-Zavala founded two bands together. The documentary is made almost entirely from footage Omar shot himself. Tours, studios and private moments are on record; the narrative does not hide the addiction or the break-ups and includes the years when the two did not speak. It was cut from hundreds of hours of material. The tone is from the inside and scattered. The music runs inside the narrative. Who it's for: viewers of independent rock history and personal archive documentary. Who it's not for: viewers who do not know the bands; the documentary proceeds without explaining the context.
