What Orphan Horse Is About
A retired horse trainer finds a young runaway girl in his barn. He is wary at first; he does not know who she is or where she came from. Then he lets her stay. He notices she has an unexpected way with the horses, and slowly a trust builds between them. Sean McNamara's American film works in the family-picture mould. Jon Voight plays the trainer and Alexa Nisenson the girl. The telling moves easily and predictably; there are no surprises in it, but it is honest in its feeling. The subject is not horses but two people with nobody finding each other. The rural landscape carries the whole atmosphere of the film.
