Oru CBI Diary Kurippu

Omana, the daughter-in-law of a businessman, is found dead at home and the case is closed as suicide. The local police run the investigation, but the evidence in hand does not fit a suicide. The file eventually goes to the central investigation bureau and Sethurama Iyer takes it over. Iyer is a man who does not shout, does not talk fast, and only looks. The town does not like him. Directed by K. Madhu and written by S. N. Swamy, the film changed the detective genre in Malayalam cinema. Sethurama Iyer, played by Mammootty, appears only after almost half the film has gone by, and from that day on became one of the best known characters in Malayalam cinema. It was the biggest earner of 1988 and four sequels followed.
