Pandiya Naadu

Suseenthiran’s 2013 Tamil film is set in Madurai. Sivakumar is a timid young man whose brother, a government official, crosses Simmakkal Ravi, the gangster who effectively runs the city, and is killed for it. From there the film splits in two: Sivakumar and his father Kalyanasundaram each plan revenge separately, without telling the other, and the difference between their two methods is what the film is actually about. Vishal both stars and produced it, Bharathiraja plays the father, and D. Imman wrote the music. It opened in November 2013, did strong business, and was remade in Kannada two years later. R. Madhi shot it, and it took the SIIMA award for best debutant producer.
