Parinda

Vidhu Vinod Chopra's 1989 Indian film follows two brothers growing up in Bombay. Kishan has gone into the criminal order beneath the city and become the man of Anna, who runs the drug trade. His younger brother Karan went to study in America and does not know what his brother does when he comes back. Kishan does everything he can to keep him away from that life, and events go another way. The film counts among the pictures that changed the language of the crime drama in Indian cinema: real locations, dark images, a story without a hero. Nana Patekar won the national award for best supporting actor and Renu Saluja for best editing.
