What Paul à Québec Is About

In 1999 Paul is house hunting in Montreal with his partner and their small daughter, and they often visit her father Roland in St-Nicolas outside Quebec City. Roland is the proud and generous head of the family and does what he can to keep his illness from his children. In time he has to move into palliative care, and everyone around him, Paul included, has to learn to live with the idea of his death. Paul starts drawing again during it. Francois Bouvier's 2015 film is adapted from Michel Rabagliati's comic of the same name, with Rabagliati himself among the writers. It does not turn dying into material for drama; it shows a family making it part of ordinary life.
