What Pink Floyd: The Story of Wish You Were Here Is About
Wish You Were Here came out in September 1975, the album Pink Floyd made after The Dark Side of the Moon, and it went straight to number one in both Britain and America. The documentary tells how it was made: the shadow of Syd Barrett, who had left the band, the blockages in the studio, the way the songs came together, and Barrett turning up unannounced during the sessions. John Edginton directs, with new interviews from Roger Waters, David Gilmour and Nick Mason, and archive material from Richard Wright. Storm Thorgerson, who designed the sleeve, Ronnie Rondell, the burning man on the cover, and the engineer Brian Humphries all speak. Humphries reopens the original tapes at Abbey Road.
