What Post Truth Is About
Wei Ping'an is a former businessman who now makes his living selling cemetery plots. A rumour spreads online about an old woman buried in one of them: that she did not deserve to be laid there. To keep a promise he made, Wei sets out to establish the truth. What he finds is that the people spreading the rumour have no interest in the truth; each of them treats what they believe as fact. The further he goes, the more he ends up inside a new rumour with himself as the target. Dong Chengpeng wrote and directed it and plays the lead. A hundred and twelve minutes. It moves in the shape of a comedy while its subject is serious: how a person's name can be erased online in a few hours.
