Prinzessinnenbad

The documentary follows three teenage girls from the Kreuzberg district of Berlin. Klara, Mina and Tanutscha have known each other since kindergarten. All three are fifteen and they have a great deal in common. They spend the summer at Prinzenbad, the large open air pool in the middle of their district. They reckon themselves fairly grown up and are convinced childhood is behind them. The camera does not look down at them; it takes what they say as they say it. Family, school and first crushes all sit inside the same summer. The account leaves all three as people rather than as examples. Bettina Blümner’s ninety two minute German documentary was completed in 2007.
