PSYCHO-PASS: The Movie

Japan starts exporting the Sibyl system, which measures criminal tendency, and its first customer is a Southeast Asian state emerging from civil war. The system appears to work there, but the way it is applied is different: not law but weapons. Akane Tsunemori travels to the country to look into it and picks up the trail of Kogami, who disappeared years ago. Naoyoshi Shiotani made the film after two seasons of the series as the instalment that carries the world outside. Its idea is explicit: what happens to a system legitimate in its own society when placed in another, and is the thing being exported technology or obedience. The action is heavier than in the series. It is not an entry point for anyone new. Who it is for: viewers who like dystopian anime and followers of the series. Who it is not for: newcomers, since the film does not explain its concepts.
