What Punks Is About
The film takes place in West Hollywood. At the centre of the story are four friends. All four are Black gay men in their twenties. Marcus is a photographer. He takes pictures of men. In matters of love he is a dreamer. He cannot turn the stories he imagines into anything real. Hill, Crystal and Dante are his close circle. The four of them meet at a bar and pass the time. Each of them is looking for someone in his own way. Then a new neighbour moves in next to Marcus. The man’s name is Darby. Darby is not gay but behaves warmly towards Marcus. That puts Marcus in a difficult position. Seth Gilliam and Rockmond Dunbar appear in the hundred and five minute film, an American production Patrik-Ian Polk finished in 2000.
