What Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha Is About

Anees Bazmee's romantic comedy is an unofficial reworking of the 1995 picture French Kiss. Sanjana, an orphan living in Paris, sets off after her fiancé Rahul when a business trip to India leaves him taken with another woman and the engagement broken. On the way she falls in with Shekhar, a thief on the run from a police inspector who used to be his friend. The whole engine of the film is those two sharing a journey while barely tolerating each other. Ajay Devgn and Kajol fit together more easily than the pairing in the source film, and Om Puri's inspector carries part of the comic load. It runs well past two and a half hours.
