Rage

The Alentejo region of Portugal, 1950. On a desolate stretch of land where the wind seems to speak, poverty and hunger press down on those at the bottom. A man who cannot find by honest means the bread to feed his family decides to settle accounts in the dark of night with those who brought him to this. The film tells rage not as a trait of character but as what comes after every door has been closed. The account uses the landscape not as a background but as a weight pressing on people. It was adapted from a novel. Isabel Ruth appears in Sergio Trefaut’s eighty five minute Portuguese film, completed in 2018.
