Venkatesh Maha's 2026 Telugu film follows an eccentric landowner in the seventies. He unexpectedly survives a terminal illness and those around him call him a man of miracles; he himself shuts himself into his mansion out of guilt and fear. The idea is that surviving is also a burden. The man does not know why he lived and builds his own world to explain it; the line between reality and imagination steadily disappears across the narrative. Satyadev Kancharana leads. Maha had built unusual narratives at a provincial scale before. The production gives weight to period design and the mansion is almost the only setting. Who it's for: those who like the experimental strain of Telugu cinema and fantastical drama. Who it's not for: viewers expecting explanation; the film deliberately leaves reality uncertain.
