What Rich Kids Is About

Franny and Jamie, two twelve year olds living on the Upper West Side of New York, are each other’s closest friend. Jamie is new to the neighbourhood and has already been through his parents’ divorce; he teaches Franny how to survive the separation coming in her own family. Franny secretly watches her father come home at five every morning and sees him trying to hide it from his wife and his daughter. At the same time the two of them are trying to understand their own first adolescent feelings. The film gives divorce through the eyes of the children rather than the adults. Trini Alvarado and John Lithgow appear in Robert M. Young’s hundred and one minute American film, completed in 1979.
