Rudraveena

Suryam is the son of a well known musician. His father holds hard to tradition. He treats music as something sacred. Suryam wants something else. He wants the music to reach people. To him art can change a society. That idea puts him at odds with his father. The two cannot agree under one roof. Suryam leaves home. He tries to build his own way alone. He looks for a different audience. The fight he takes on by himself is a long one, and the film argues about what music owes to the society around it. Chiranjeevi and Shobana appear in the hundred and seventy minute film, with Gemini Ganesan as the father, an Indian production K. Balachander finished in 1988.
