What Sabah Is About
Sabah falls in love at a moment she never expected, and the man is not someone her family would find suitable; she is Muslim and he is not. She keeps the relationship from her family and manages to carry it for a while. But keeping something hidden also means putting off a decision, and at some point culture and feeling come up against each other. The film does not turn the matter into a sermon about conflict; it says at once that the woman is old enough to make her own decision and that the decision is not an easy one. Arsinee Khanjian plays the lead in Ruba Nadda’s eighty six minute film, completed in 2005.
