Salako

Salako was Kemal Sunal's first leading role in film (he had played a supporting part the previous year in Tatlı Dillim); it was directed by Atıf Yılmaz from a screenplay by Sadık Şendil. Sunal plays a naive villager who transforms into a well meaning outlaw, a role that marked the beginning of the career that would make him one of Yeşilçam's greatest comedians. The film was shot in the İnceğiz caves and the villages of Kestanelik and Örcüncü in Istanbul's Çatalca district. Who it's for: anyone curious about Kemal Sunal's very first leading role, at the start of the career that made him one of Yeşilçam's greatest comedians. Who it's not for: viewers looking for Sunal's later, more matured comedic style, since this is very early in his career.
