Seven Days: Friday - Sunday

There is a rule everyone at school knows about Touji: whoever asks him out first on Monday morning gets to date him for that week, and it ends on Sunday. Yuzuru tries it half as a joke and half as a dare, and the offer is accepted. Somewhere in the middle of the week something neither of them expected happens, and what is between them moves past friendship. It is now Friday, and Sunday is coming. Takeshi Yokoi's film is the second of two adapted from the manga of the same name; the first covers the beginning of the week and this one the end. Instead of a plot, it gives you the hesitation itself: sentences that go unsaid, quiet hours at the archery club, interior monologue. Without reaching for the genre's usual exaggeration, it measures how far two teenagers can open up to each other.
